Ali Khan lived his life helping people.
Whether it was volunteering overseas, helping a friend improve their resume, bringing Muslims together through communities, or simply being the person people knew they could call when they needed help, Ali consistently gave his time to others.“We rise by helping others in the process.”In his memory, his family and friends are partnering with Droplets of Mercy to build a clean water project for Sudanese refugees in Uganda, with the intention that every person who benefits from it becomes part of an ongoing sadaqah jariyah for Ali.May Allah accept it from him, multiply its benefit, and make it a source of ongoing reward for him. Outside of work, much of his time was spent serving others. He described volunteering, humanitarian work, and philanthropy as some of the things he cared about most.He was the kind of friend who would tirelessly help someone work through their resume or career decisions without expecting anything in return. He also believed deeply in community. Ali spent time helping bring Muslims together through various organizations like Muppies, Muslim Professionals, muslims at Microsoft, and more. He understood that sometimes helping people simply meant connecting them with the right person, opportunity, or community. His service was not limited to people close to him. Ali volunteered regularly and traveled overseas, including to Jordan, to serve communities in need. Earlier in his career, he also took part in outreach and volunteer initiatives through his workplaces.Ali had many interests, but service was a consistent thread through all of them.
Through Ali's Lens
Ali was also an avid photographer who found beauty everywhere he went. His photography captured nature, night skies, travel, and places he experienced throughout his life.Check out his photography: https://www.instagram.com/fotokahani/Check out his artwork: https://www.instagram.com/paintkahani/
His Final Chapter
Even During His Illness, His Intention to Serve ContinuedAli spent the final period of his life battling cancer. That illness limited many of the things he wanted to continue doing, but it did not change the person he was or his desire to serve others. He had already spent years giving his time, energy, and skills to people around him, and he still had so much more he wanted to do.While Ali can no longer physically continue that work, those who loved him can help continue it on his behalf. That is why this project exists.Helping Hand for Relief and Development, Jordan, 2017
Why Clean Water?
A Sadaqah Jariyah That Continues GivingWe wanted Ali's memorial project to reflect how he lived.Something useful. Something that directly helps people. Something whose impact continues long after the initial act of giving.Through Droplets of Mercy, donations made in Ali's memory will support a clean water project serving Sudanese refugees in Uganda.Access to clean water affects nearly every part of daily life. Drinking, cooking, washing, sanitation, and the health of entire families all depend on it.The hope is simple: every time someone benefits from this water, Ali continues to receive reward for the good being done in his memory, by the permission of Allah. Through this campaign, we are raising $25,000 to fund the building of a Mega Water Well serving Sudanese refugee families in Uganda.Your contribution helps fund the construction, infrastructure, and delivery of reliable clean water to the community.
Be Part of Ali's Sadaqah Jariyah
Whether you give $20, $50, $100, or fund a larger portion of the project, every contribution helps continue a legacy built around serving others. If you are unable to contribute financially, please make dua for Ali and share this project with someone who may wish to participate.
Help Us Continue What Ali Started
For those of us who knew Ali, this project is about more than building a well.It is a way to continue something that defined him throughout his life: helping people. He helped friends with their careers. He helped build Muslim communities. He volunteered his time locally and abroad. He used his talents generously. And he reminded people through both his words and his actions that we rise by helping others. Now we have an opportunity to do the same for him.May Allah forgive Ali, have mercy upon him, expand and illuminate his grave, raise his ranks in Jannatul Firdaus, accept every act of charity performed on his behalf, and reunite him with his family and friends in the best of circumstances.
